My name is Hannah Corrall and I have nearly 20 years of teaching experience in both mainstream and special settings. I currently work as a SENCO in an outstanding mainstream primary school alongside my independent work in SEN.

My love of teaching began when I started working as an LSA at a special school in Hampshire. From here I went on to train as a primary school teacher before moving back to a special secondary school, where I taught for 17 years across all year groups and attainment levels. I was the English and Performing Arts Lead at the school.

I have recently moved on to a SENCO role in a mainstream primary school in Hampshire. I made this move specifically to work with children and families who have found the SEN process overwhelming and tricky to navigate. Working in a mainstream school has enabled me to focus on the early stages of SEN identification and the processes involved in securing the right provision to provide children with the best possible outcomes.

Throughout my career, I have worked with children who have a range of special educational needs; including those with Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, complex needs and profound, multiple learning difficulties. I have a particular interest in supporting children with behaviour challenges and those who find traditional school settings difficult to access. I have worked with many children who struggle with emotionally based school avoidance and those with complex mental health needs.

I have leadership experience; working as a senior teacher, acting head of college and acting head of residential care in a special school. I am currently working towards a national professional qualification for special educational needs coordinators. I have completed the IPSEA SEN law training and hold a Level 3 certificate in supporting communication and language for pupils with SLD.

I enjoy working with children and their families to secure the correct provision for their child and pride myself on developing excellent working relationships, ensuring children and families feel well supported, informed and heard.
